Park Hours & Tour Times
Mesa Verde National Park is open year round. Some areas of the park, facilities, and tours are only available during certain times. Great itineraries for half day, full day, and overnight trips are available in the Trip Planner section.
The best way to experience Mesa Verde is getting out early. Temperatures quickly rise by the afternoon and shade is limited on many of the attractions and tours. Summer monsoon rains are also a concern in July, August, and September. The park is expansive enough to warrant good planning at the Visitor Center on arrival and the drive to Chapin Mesa is another 30 minutes from the highway. Some Ranger-guided tours sell out as well.
Specific site and dwelling guides are available for free from the Mesa Verde Museum Association Website.
A Mesa Verde National Park Tour provides a convenient and professional tour of the most spectacular places to visit at Mesa Verde. Enjoy the free shuttle from Durango, Colorado and relax while your personal park expert leads you on a journey back in time. Park fees, Ranger-guided tours, and a great deli lunch are provided. Tours are available everyday but space is limited! Learn more…
